2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly: account registration details (name, email address, phone number), student profiles (name, grade, school), and payment information (processed securely via PayFast). We also collect information generated through platform use: test results, progress data, learning activity logs, and device/browser information for security and analytics.

Your information is used to: provide and maintain the iCanPass platform and its features; process payments and manage subscriptions; generate and display test results, progress reports, and learning recommendations; communicate with you about your account, tests, and platform updates; monitor platform security and prevent fraud; and comply with legal obligations.

4. Children's Data

iCanPass takes the protection of children's personal information seriously. Student accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian who provides consent for the collection and use of the child's data. Student data is only accessible to: the student's linked parent or guardian; teachers or tutors authorised by the parent or institution; and sponsors where the parent has granted access. We do not use student data for marketing or advertising purposes.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We may share information: with your consent, to provide services you have requested; with service providers who assist in operating the platform, under strict data processing agreements; with authorised educational institutions, teachers, or sponsors you have linked to your account; or when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of iCanPass, its users, or the public.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. These include encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication mechanisms, and regular security assessments. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. When you close your account, we will retain your data for a reasonable period as required for legal, audit, and operational purposes. Test results and anonymised learning data may be retained for educational research and platform improvement.
